A New Era Of Music Production...

Remember the early days of music production? When an Atari ST was the height of technology, sample time was limited to about 10 seconds in your Akai S950 sampler and 'production quality' was as alien a concept as 'streaming' or 'insta stories'?

No, me neither. If you're anything like me, you would have barely even been in nappies when all this was going down, when dance music was forged in floppy disks, cumbersome dusty boxes and temperamental hardware synths (and no doubt a pill-induced haze to boot).

However, 30 or so years on, things are quite different. Due to the ever-accelerating pace of technological progress and increases in processing power, the production quality of electronic dance music has come on in leaps and bounds. For example, compare this dusty, degraded, 8-bit Amiga produced (and yet absolutely brilliant!) 1992 rave anthem by D-Force:

In 2023, dance music is some of the best produced music that exists. Which is a beautiful thing because it means a much higher quality live experience at the club or the festival. Tracks sound better on systems, the emotional power of the music is enhanced. However, for newer producers, this can feel really quite daunting. How can you ever reach that level?! And even for more experienced producers, while we are more than capable of reaching those lofty production heights, it can still take us some time to get there, polishing and tweaking our tracks, sometimes taking days, weeks, or months to achieve our production goals. Plus in 2023, we cannot spend 24 hours a day in the studio (as much as we might like to!). We have to create social media content, deal with bookings, and work on our other music-related business ventures. The end result is releasing less music than we might like. One thing's for certain: gone are the days of knocking out a track in an afternoon.

Our mission at Degenerates is to change this. We want to empower producers with samples of such high quality that achieving a professional sound is possible much faster than ever before. We want to provide samples which sound great and instantly useable straight out the box, so you don't have to spend hours tweaking or layering samples or VST presets.

Most importantly, we want to take care of the production side of the process for you, so you can focus on what really matters: being creative, writing brilliant music that will capture the hearts and souls of your fans, and of course, having fun throughout the whole process. After all, that's the reason you got into this game in the first place, isn't it?!
